Adoption Week Scotland: 18th - 23rd November 2019
Adoption Week Scotland gives us an opportunity to raise the profile of adoption in Scotland. It is a chance to inform the wider community about the process of adoption, the need to find families for children who are waiting, to share the experiences of children and families who are living their own personal adoption journeys, and to celebrate.
Adoption Week Scotland 2019 will focus on sharing stories. We have workshops for adopted young people developing poetry and short stories with Scot’s Makar, Jackie Kay, who has written about her own adoption journey, we have the Adoption Journey book which illustrates the journey of adoptive parents and then for practitioners we have a networking and practice exchange event where for professionals and agencies can share their own stories of adoption support provision.
AFA Scotland and Adoption UK Scotland are once again organising this and detailed below are some of the events that have been scheduled. Further details can be found here together with a link to a DVD featuring information about the work of AFA Scotland, Adoption UK Scotland and Scotland's Adoption Register and how these agencies can support you throughout the adoption process. https://vimeo.com/354177234 Password - adoptionweek A resource pack containing the DVD, factsheets, posters and leaflets have been distributed to all local authorities in Scotland.
