The Secure Base Model devised by Gillian Schofield and Mary Beek provides a positive framework for therapeutic caregiving to help children and young people move towards greater security and builds resilience.

This workshop provides an introduction to the key dimensions of the Secure Base Model and specific tools to assess the needs of children and young people in the looked after system and the support needs of those who care for them. Its use in the assessment of foster carers and adopters will also be considered.  It is suitable for fostering and adoption social work managers, children's social workers and managers.
