Evaluation of Securing Children's Futures Postgraduate Course

A comprehensive evaluation report on the Securing Children's Futures postgraduate course was published in November 2017.

The course has now been running for over 10 years, it is provided by AFA Scotland and accredited by the University of Strathclyde. The evaluation focused on the impact of undertaking the course for evaluation of the course for participants and the agencies they work for.

The evaluation was undertaken by Kirstie Maclean, Roisin McGoldrick, and Maggie Grant. They carried out pre- and post-course interviews with a cohort of students and some managers about their experiences of the course. The findings identify measurable improvements in students' knowledge and confidence in relation to the four key areas of learning (assessment, permanence, direct work with children and carers/adopters). The report highlights examples of how learning is put into practice.
