MOVING IMAGES - FREE WORKSHOP EVENTS

The Moving Images project team has been working together over the past 18 months to identify and develop good practice guidance for making and using video clips in family finding. There’s good evidence these make a positive difference, but we found that although many agencies/ social workers thought they were a good idea, they were put off making them by the potential technical, ethical and legal complexities involved. The workshops are aimed at social workers and managers who might be involved in making videos, or making decisions about plans for children. The recording of ‘video’ images of looked after children is becoming a much more prominent issue - given the ease with which this can be created with phones, tablets etc. - and these new resources should be a really useful contribution to managing this appropriately.  Participants will hear directly from the film-makers, social workers, researchers, and others who have been involved in this project. Copies of the guidance will be available on the day. This workshop will aim to provide practical advice and examples that participants can apply directly to their own practice.  These events are free and each agency can send a maximum of 2 delegates overall.  (1 delegate to each workshop or both delegates to either Edinburgh or Glasgow)  Places will be allocated on a first come basis.
